Aloe Vera, a natural remedy since centuries

Aloe Vera has been used for centuries as one of the most important natural remedies in medicine, especially for the treatment of ulcers, burns, wounds and scars.

The health benefits have been registered in medicine since ancient times and in plant medical science books, as a miraculous plant with a high content of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and properties.

Already in prehistory, during the Paleolithic era, it is known that Aloe Vera was used together with other natural juices to cover the skin and the hair.

The Sumerians, for example, used Aloe Vera in formulas for medicinal use, which have been used since 5000 BC. Evidence in the development of cosmetics and medicines.

In various documents of ancient Babylon, the Aloe Vera is in lists for perfumes, aromatic essences and juices for the treatment of the skin, just as in Egypt, where in the first medical documents, the "Embers Papyrus or Papyrus remedies" (1550 for Christ), different formulas based on Aloe juice are found in the manufacture of elixirs.

Natural medicine since ancient times

In the 5th century BC, "Hippocrates", the father of modern medicine, repeatedly mentions Aloe Vera in his document "Canon of medicines", the first medical encyclopedia, which collected many natural remedies with Aloe as a drug for the treatment of burns, wounds, infections and insect bites.

Alexander the Great, the great victor of the ancient world, repeatedly invokes Aloe Vera as a remedy for the wounds of his soldiers, which is why in his expeditions he uses large quantities of this plant to treat his troop's wounds.

Aloe Vera to treat stomach disorders

In the Roman Empire, the book "Natural History" records several recipes of "The old Plinius “in which Aloe Vera is used for the treatment of stomach ulcers, ulcers, burns and wounds.

In the middle Ages, Aloe Vera was also used as a stomach tonic, striking for its cleansing power, disinfecting and healing for the organism. The Templers used mixtures of different plants to drink, among others the Aloe Vera pulp, with a product name "Elixir of Jerusalem", which served to improve the health and longevity of the people who consumed it.

Columbus wrote on his journeys to America in his diaries about the use of Aloe Vera on various Caribbean islands to treat blisters, insect bites, wounds and burns.

Burns and Aloe

During the Second World War and after the atomic bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Aloe Vera was used again in medicine to treat burns, which cured faster and without scars.

Dr. Collins and his son discovered in the thirties using x-ray machines the effectiveness of Aloe Vera to treat burns with this new technique. The two doctors studied the properties of Aloe for ulcers, eczema, burns, to treat various diseases and skin problems.

Aloe Vera and its antibacterial power

In the 1960s Lalisbury and Lorezzeti proved that Aloe was effective in the treatment of some bacteria such as Salmonella, Staphylococcus, and its anti-bacterial properties were investigated to prevent the development of bacteria that cause various infections.                    In Japan, it was possible to demonstrate the anti-inflammatory power of Aloe, which was effective in treating various skin problems and relieving symptoms.

From the 1970s and thanks to the work of the pharmacist Bill Cotas, it was confirmed that Aloe Vera could be stabilized with a natural formula that separated the Aloin from the peel. The gel of the pulp in combination with vitamin C, vitamin E and Sorbitol could be used as an ingredient in creams and lotions this way it would not oxidize or rot, something that changed the world of cosmetics and beauty.
